I’m a 24 year old college graduate who is trying to find my way in this crazy world. I don’t have a career (or even a job) at the moment, but I am concentrating on becoming the healthiest me I can right now and am hoping in the process I will discover some things about myself that will lead me down some new and exciting paths.
I have been overweight obese my entire life. At my known heaviest I was 304.5 pounds and sedentary. I lived off of fast food, convenience foods, comfort foods. If it was bad for you I ate it. I had high blood pressure and my cholesterol was getting to be borderline. I didn’t exercise at all. Like many people, weight problems run in the family for me. But I am no longer using that as an excuse. I had tried diets and weight loss programs before and always regained. At one point I had even lost 80 pounds but gained all of it back and then some.
This is me at my heaviest and unhealthiest.

In December of 2008 I joined SparkPeople.com (for the second time) and vowed that I would change my life, lose the weight for good, and become a healthy and happy person. I will spare you all the details of the last 10 months here. I’m sure I will reveal the important ones in my blog over time. What you really need to know about me is that some major fundamental changes took place in the way that I thought about weight loss and in my behaviors and eventually I did what I set out to do!
So far I have lost 107 pounds. I still have a good amount of weight left to lose and a lot of improvements I still need to make, though. I thought starting this blog would make the rest of my journey a little easier and hopefully more fun and exciting as well. I enjoy trying new healthy foods and would like to try some new physical activities as soon as I can afford to. I’m looking forward to writing about any new experiences I have, lessons I learn, or advice I can offer.
This is my most recent pic.

Here’s a brief bio.
I was born in Maryland and raised in Owensboro, KY. I met my husband Bobby through high school marching band and we started dating in our senior year. I attended Brescia University and transferred to Western Kentucky University where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Consumer and Family Sciences with a major in Family Studies and a minor in Sexuality Studies. I loved what I studied but quickly learned my degree was incredibly un-marketable. Besides becoming healthy and eventually having my own family I’m not really sure what I want to do with my life, so I have bounced around from job to job and will continue bouncing until I figure it out.
Bobby and I were married on January 12, 2008 in Owensboro. Later that year we decided he would go to school to get his Bachelor’s in Music Composition and that would mean a move to Louisville so he could attend the University of Louisville. So in August of 2009 we packed our possessions and moved into my parents’ basement in Louisville where we are living peacefully for the time being.
Here are the other members of my family.
